Welcome Dr. Crystle Alonzo to SLHS!

October 27, 2020

Crystle AlonzoJoin us in welcoming Dr. Crystle Alonzo, a new assistant professor in the SDSU School of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences! Dr. Alonzo is also the director of the Comprehension Opportunities in Reading and Language (CORAL) Lab whose mission is to support children who are at risk for or who have language and reading difficulties so that they may live empowered and fulfilling lives. The CORAL Lab seeks to accomplish this mission through research, collaboration, and outreach with professionals and families in our local communities. Dr. Alonzo worked for several years as a certified speech language pathologist in Arizona before pursuing a PhD and is excited to be back in the southwest where she hopes to build meaningful community partnerships, find creative solutions for children with developmental language disorders and dyslexia through her research, and help train the next generation of inclusive and diverse speech language pathologists. One of Dr. Alonzo’s favorite quotes is attributed to a Greek proverb which states, “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”.
