OverviewThe Phonological Typologies Laboratory at San Diego State University (SDSU) first got underway in 1997. The primary focus of the research program is in the area of phonology, phonological acquisition, and phonological disorders. Our research focuses in particular on determining the typological properties of developing sound systems and how they compare with and inform our understanding of adult systems. Currently, our research focuses on monolingual English and Spanish as well as bilingual Spanish-English populations. Aspects of our research have been supported by the National Institutes of Health.
