The SDSU/UCSD Joint Doctoral Program held its second annual White Coat Ceremony on July 26, 2009, in the new SLHS building. Over 50 friends, family, and faculty were in attendance to celebrate the Class of 2011's Advancement to Candidacy and transition to the clinical community. Speakers included faculty members, Dr. Erika Zettner (UCSD) and Dr. Jacque Georgeson (SDSU).

The Audiology Foundation of America (AFA) and the local chapter of the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) co-sponsored the event, in which students were presented with white coats symbolizing their advancement to candidacy for their Audiology Doctorate (Au.D.) degree. Additionally, program alumnus and clinic preceptor Dr. Lesli Guthrie was presented with a white coat on behalf of the class.
